New Bathroom

Hi there,

We asked for money for our wedding last weekend in order to refit our bathroom and now have a budget of around £1500. Having read a couple of other threads on here I'm now really worried that this isn't enough! We have a hideous lime-green Royal Venton suite (complete with cast-iron bath) currently in our bathroom which needs stripping out completely and replacing with a new suite. I would imagine the pipes will also need replacing as I assume they have not been done since the house was built in the 1930's. We will be supplying the suite ourselves and looking to spend around £800 on this so that leaves us roughly £600 for installation as we will also need to buy tiles as well (we'll be doing the tiling ourselves).

Are we kidding ourselves that we can get the bathroom installed for £600? We've had to rebook our honeymoon cos of the volcano so wanted to try and sort the bathroom out to cheer ourselves up a bit! We're in the Manchester/Oldham area by the way.

Thanks for any advice given:)

you can get a suite for less than £800. check plumbers merchants etc. or screwfix.
Can you sell the old bath to a salvage or reclamation yard, might be worth a few quid.
New for old suite replacement from £400 ish .

we got a new bathroom suite for £350 or so. That was for the bath(plastic), sink, wc, pedestal, mixer shower, screen and all taps and waste pipes.
Admittedly it was a couple of years ago but bargains can be found.
    We got ours frmo plumbworld.co.uk
