I think a lot of people invested in these without anyone fully explaining what they were or what the worst case scenario would be.
Please seek the advice of an independent financial adviser. It's practically impossible for the man on the street to work out if it is best to just withdraw the cash with MVR, wait until an MVR-free window, or carry forward the investment.
As always, if seeking the advice of an MVR, make sure they charge on hours worked and not commission.0 -

I never new what an MVR was untill I started this thread and did a little google research. It is my opinion that those financially trained salesperson's will only tell you what you want to hear when after your savings. I reported back to the lady who bought this product to explain all comments above, she and her late husband were not made aware of any pitfalls or shortcommings . It's a shame people like them get a little bit missled buy the sell sell culture from these financial organization's. Buyer Beware read all, understand all, before you part with your money. There are some very slippery people out there after your loot."Imagination is more Important than knowledge"0

You cant place all blame on salespeople sometimes people only hear what they want to hear when the details are being given to them then claim misselling when it doesnt go their way.
If your freind feels they have been missold they should raise a formal complaint for this to be investigated0 -
Ah yes,the good old Nat West....AKA !!!!!! Turpin Banking PLC.
Back in 1984 when I joined the RAF,I went overdrawn by about 50 pence for a week.My account was opened with the Nat West Lincoln Brayford while I was at Swinderby.
They took my cashcard & cheque book off me & told me the only way I could witdraw money was to go into a Nat West branch, the branch would phone my home branch in Lincoln Brayford, who may authorise a withdrawal of up to £25 per week but it'd cost me £5.
So on posting to Kinloss,I changed banks.
A few years later,1993,I was posted to RAF Innsworth which, apart from being an holding flight for Airmen was also the admin section for the RAF.
While there,I came accross two other Airmen who were getting the same treatment from the Nat West Lincoln Brayford.
Nice little money making scam over the years for them.0 -
