dog safety

have 6 month [big] alsatian pup , what is safe way of taking her out in nissan qashqai,
would like to take to beach with grandchildren [she plays with them in house/garden]
find it very hard to judge what is needed and safe , she is at 'clumsy' stage any advice or info appreciated , even just the dog and my wife [ for space.

    My two travel in the 'boot' of the car (it's a hatchback), with a dog guard to prevent them gaining access to the rear seats. Not ideal as I worry about someone hitting the rear of car, but they don't get on with harnesses in the back seats and besides, these are needed for human passengers.

    So many times though, I see big dogs being allowed to travel unrestrained, and climbing all over the passengers and in some cases the driver!! So dangerous.
