How long does being on ESA last?

Hello
I've been on ESA for around 11 months now and I'd like to know how long does being on ESA last? Originally I secured the benefit through numerous sick notes from my GP, then after my appeal was successful I received a letter from DWP saying my claim was being upgraded and backdated. Since then: nothing! They have not asked me to come in for any meetings or further medical assessments. Is this normal?
Hope someone can help?

ESA lasts as long as the DWP think you qualify for it, there is not a time limit.
You are likely to have further medical assessments but not everybody does.
If you are in the work related group you should have work focused interviews but if you are in the support group these are not required.0 -
