Toyota Verso < 3yrs old Dealership service £260!!

Hello all, just after some advice please... I'm a girl... what I know about cars could be written on a postage stamp, so please be kind! ;)

My Toyota Verso, which I've had a little over 2 years, is due it's second service next month. The dealership I bought it from have offered to service it for £256 (well, actually £280odd, but with a very generous (!?) 10% off if booked online). I am gobsmacked that it's so much, but at the same time, clueless as to what's a reasonable amount to pay?! Also, if I were to take it somewhere else... what are the consequences likely to be?
Any advice will be ever so much appreciated :)
Jo

Sounds about right for a second service at a main dealer. I think you'd better prepared for the cost of tyres if you think £250 is unreasonable for a service.

Doesn't sound terribly unreasonable as main dealer services prices go for what I guess is a major service.

You could save some money (£100 maybe) by taking it to an ordinary garage, as long as they service it accordance with Toyota specifications your warranty will still apply.

At two years old there is ££ value in having a dealer history so I’d be inclined to stay with the dealer for this one.

Might be worth ringing another dealer just to make sure the price is correct

The service plan for a new 2.0d Verso for the first 3 services is around £440.
There is a bit more involved in the second service than the first and third so it is a bit dearer.
Toyota dealers servicing like most have prices are normally uniform unless there is a special offer.

Thank you for the replies - just wanted to be sure I wasn't being ripped off with the price and that it's worth sticking with the dealership.

And remember as Viking said the costs of wear & tear items like tyres & brakes can be silly from the dealer so if any are flagged up as need then certainly get alternative quotes for them.

Give a few local dealers a ring round and see what they quote. Sometimes the difference is quite remarkable. Then go back to the original one and ask them to price match the lowest.

Sounds about right, but does this include a brake fluid change which is due? If not add £50-100 (they charge what they can get away with).
