Hi Mel.
It's strange about the ex-MIL. We were never close, but were civil. She was never much of a Nan (or Mum to her own children!), she drank and smoked too much which got her in the end, but I still feel sad.
Did you go to Eastham Woods? I was going to ask when you said you were going to the beach the other day, which beach do you go to? We were in West Kirby on Friday and it was jam packed like the Costa del Sol!:beer:0 -

Awww, I know...I was actually a lot more upset about my dad passing away than I ever thought I would be. We never got on, he was an abusive alcoholic and kicked me out onto the streets at the age of 15...but for some reason I was really upset about it!! Family eh!!
We usually go west Kirby, but were planning on Prestatyn. However, J woke feeling sicky and headache and L had sore throat, so I dosed them up with calpol and thought we'd wait a couple of hours to see how they were...they felt a bit better by 10(ish) but we decided on Eastham woods, thinking if they felt bad again we are a bit nearer home for them. We had a brilliant day though:)Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot,

So does Beenie's Amber too. Where is Beenie, is she ok? (I've only been on here this afternoon so may have missed her)
I don't feel like i've been away cos i've been reading, but hadn't realised i hadn't posted much lol!
How do those necklaces work anyway? I don't fancy the idea of her wearing something round her neck, can you get anklets or something?!Was wondering about Beenie too - you just lurking hon?
I'm glad we're going to start weaning in the summer as it means lots of nappy eating and therefore minimal laundry. Still strategising what might be best to put under the highchair to catch inevitable mess - or should I not bother and just clean up the floor? (it's laminate so no biggie)
Is MFD in here? I am fascinated by her FB status and require details!
I also require an update from Beenie.
I have no updates cos i'm boring! I am still waiting for my money from Paypal x 2, and still have no Apple. That's about all i've got going on at the moment lol!

Evening all. I will come and read back when I've made myself some tea, but I came to ask some advice for now... this (8:30) is getting to be the normal time I escape from Izzy's bedroom, after feeding, messing around, a bit more feeding, and then finally she agrees to get into bed and go to sleep. I think controlled crying is going to be the way forward (so when she starts messing around I will b00ger off, cook tea and leaver her to it, just popping my head in every so often to check she hasn't done anything stupid, and is still in bed. Has anyone got experience of controlled crying a toddler who is no longer in a cot? Any tips? I'm working on the principle that so long as her room is safe (we have a stair gate at the door, so she won't get out of the room) we will just put her back into bed every time we go in, and if she falls asleep on the floor we will put her back into bed then? We are going on holiday Friday next week, so I'm thinking there is no point starting now, and I might as well wait until we get home, as everything will go wonky when we go away anyhow.
I was always dead set against controlled crying, but I can't keep eating my tea when I really need to be going to bed!Isabella Molly born 14th January 2009

Weaning so far is bankrupting me in Vanish. I'm sure there's more MSE ways to get rid of the stains but i'm too lazy :rotfl: Her poo is still explosive, just stains more!
Sunlight is your friend (with no vanish). Most stains will disappear completely if hung out to dry on a bright sunny day. If you don't have outdoor space it also works to leave them on a window sill in bright sunlight. This has worked for me with everything from poo to spag bol over the years.0 -

I am not much use here Ladybird, but when we ran into a wall with Elijah about bedtimes, we did find that moving it slightly later made a huge difference to his willingness. By going at around 8.15-8.45 he was a lot more likely to go down. Nowadays he often asks us to go to bedthough, unreliably.
Good luck either way!0 -
Bruno - Thank You for that link...I have just read it out to dh who is absolutely made up.

Lady Tell me to booger off if you want, but can I ask why she's in a bed rather than a cot? She seems very young to be in a bed?!? (Or do I keep mine in cots for too long?).
V goes into her sleeping bag and into her cot with her last bottle and dummy in her hand. She usually goes straight to sleep but sometimes she cries and we'll leave her for 5 minutes. 9 times out of 10 she's gone to sleep within 5 minutes, but if not, i'll go up and lay her back down and pass her the dummy that she's thrown. Mostly (touching wood!) she's ok, but occasionally i'll be up every 5 minutes for an hour!
I imagine if she was able to get out of bed she'd be a nightmare?!?:beer:0
