Capital One Credit Card - Bank Details

Hi there
Applied on line today for a Capital One Classic Card. I'm not sure if l have been accepted for certain, l got all the green ticks, had to sign the online agreement etc and had the confirmaiton code along with message stating card should be with me within 7-10 days etc.

However, at no point during the application did it ask for bank account details, l thought they always did?

You've been accepted. I've recently applied and got the same result, received everything within a week.

Ermm...the usual stuff, confirm your card details, the activation is initially automated but you have to eventually talk to someone to finish, try to sell you some sort of anti fraud/multiple card cancelling product and ask if you want to set up a direct debit. Make sure you sign up for the free equifax credit reports/identity alert product, pretty useful.

It's available on all of them and is renewed every year.

  • I have 4 credit cards totalling just under £20,000 and am paying substantially more than min payment on the highest interest one and slightly over minimum payments for the others. I have closed 3 of them in order to freeze the current rate and stop rate jacking. I read that the Capital card is a good way to try to repair your credit record. I would intend spending a small amount each month and clearing it in full.
    1. Is this a good idea or am I too far gone for that?
    2. Would I get accepted for one? (I read that they are perhaps "less choosy".
    Any advice gratefully received.
    Debt at LBM (7/2/10) - £42,000.
    Debt at Dec 2011 - £36,200

You say you want to "repair" your credit record but you don't say what is "broken" about it. You would get better advice that way.

I don't see what there is to repair really if you're meeting all your obligations.

More credit *might* look better to some lenders, based on ratio of available to used credit. Others might be worried by the higher overall exposure potential if you go on an absinthe bender in Vegas ;)
