New Car & Old Car

Hi

I need some help with this scenerio i have got.

I own a 08 Corsa and am going to upgrade to 10 Corsa VXR.

My mum owns a 1999 Ford Focus. Evans Halshaw have priced up a new car for me using her car as swappage allowance (£3k) and she would the registerd keeper of it. Well she would have my current 08 car and i would have the new 10 one. But we dont want to sign the logbooks over as it will show 2 owners on each books.

What i need to know is
1) If either one of us was to be done for speeding - how would it stand of "i wasnt driving the vehicle".

2) I have GAP insurance on the 08 corsa with over a year left. The salesman told me that the GAP insurance stays with the owner of that car. so if i signed the car to my mum then it would be void. But if i stayed the registered keeper and became a secondary driver that it could stay valid, But adding me to my mums insurance will put it up by £1k. Is the true and is there another type of this insurance that she could take out.

3) If i brought a new car from evans halshaw. can i ask them not to register it? On the breakdown of charges , they charge for registering the vehicle. Well if they didnt register it then surely i would be able to register it in my name, don't know how this stands against swappage allowance.

Thanks for taking the time to read

Sounds complicated! You really need the VXR in your name as if anything happens and it's in your mums name with you as a named driver then the insurers will smell a rat with a boy racer car like that and think you're trying to dupe them.
Can't the garage register the VXR in your name and still take the focus as swappage? If not then I'd be tempted to re-register it in your name. So what if the car's had 2 owners - it really won't make much (if any) of a difference when you come to sell it.
As for the 08 Corsa, you'll have to look at the small print of the GAP insurance and see what it stipulates. If it's going to cost you a fortune to do what you say, then you just keep the car for a year and put your mum on your insurance. You'll basically be the owner of both cars. In a years time when GAP insurance has expired you can transfer it to her name.

Buy them and have registered in the wrong names around. Then insure the VXR yourself and the old car under your mum's policy - just make sure that the insurer notes that the registered keeper is someone else.
