Rewiring quote

Hello all,

Long time lurker, first time poster!

I have received a quote of £1,700+VAT for a complete rewire of a two bedroomed house in Essex - this is my first home and I've never had work like this done before. Is this a fair quote? It includes a new consumer unit, four new sockets and white plastic accessories.

Thanks! :)

You might want to elaborate on what the work entails (eg. number of lights and sockets being rewired, a cooker point, shower point etc.) because this can have a significant bearing on what would be considered a fair price, but £1700.00 doesn't sound too bad for a 2 bed house.

Just make sure that on completion a certificate is going to be issued for the work and Building Control are to be notified under Part 'P' regulations.
