Lugage Wieghts.

Could you please advise me on the weight limits on lugage?

My family are travelling from Stanstead to Majorca on 23rd Aug. The party consists of 2 adults and 2 children (2 & 10)
We are travelling with Airberlin.

Also is the limit imposed per person or per bag? i.e. if the limit is 25 kg's can we have 2 bags for us all that weigh 50kg's each totalling 100kg's?

Thankyou

Mark

Taken from the Air Berlin website.

What is the free baggage allowance?

Every passenger has a free baggage allowance of 20 kg. If you have booked a return flight and are staying over 28 days at your destination, the free baggage allowance is increased to 30 kg per person. This free baggage allowance also applies to children and infants.

Tip: If you have a Top Bonus Card Silver or Gold, you can take bulky sports equipment weighing up to 30 kg as well as items such as hang-gliders, bicycles and surfboards with you at not extra cost. You also have a greater baggage allowance – an extra 10 kg.

For reasons of safety as well as convenience, each passenger is only allowed to carry one item of hand luggage up to 6 kg and measuring no more than 55 x 40 x 20 cm on board.

For health and safety reasons no item of checked-in baggage on flights from and to England may weigh more than 32 kg, irrespective of the free baggage allowance

I'm don't think that they'd accept a bag weighing 50kg. I recently travelled to Canada and had a bag weighing 22kg and they put a warning lable on it saying "Heavy".

I was also caught out and had to pay excess baggage charges for the first time with this particular airline. I had to pay £8 per kilo for the 2 extra ones. Not a lot I know but everyone was caught by it. In the past a little bit over has been allowed, not anymore!

maximum of 32kg is allowed per luggage, no matter what airline.

and im not sure about air berlin but some airlines do indicate that maximum allowance is per luggage per passenger - i,e, no sharing allowed (such as Ryanair). You might want to phone them up!

To save any kerfuffle at the Airport, sort the luggage out at home with the bathroom scales before going to the airport.
