slow computer+unable to download

having problems with a extremerly slow laptop and also unable to download anything, example firefox flashplayer and more,i have spare memory iam running windows xp on AOL.i did reinstall aol not long before my problems started.

Which laptop, how much ram, which virus scanner, how long has this been going on, have you done a scan with malwarebytes and startuplite, what is slow, everything, bootup, or the net, how slow is slow, is it slow without the battery in? What are the commit charge and physical memory figures in task manager, performance tab

Post a hijackthis log, after running a malwarebytes scan and startuplite.

this is the problem i cannot download anything,it tells me programme not verified and not valid on win 32 application whenever i try,whatever that means.

Have you had any popups (infections), what are the answers to the rest of the questions.

Can you run anything or are you talking about your browser only

What tells you that? What programme isn't verified? It would help if you took time to say what you're trying to do, step-by-step, and the exact error messages that occur at each individual stage (although I suspect the letters "AOL" will prove to be the problem)

when trying to download any programes iam getting the messages "not valid on a win 32 application of ACER.SCR has encounted a problem.As for surfing the net its working but slow.

Save your data and format and reinstall xp is my advice or you'll spend days trying to sort it out.
