It's most likely to be a problem at AOL's end not yours and isn't necessarily a national problem, could be just AOL's hardware at your exchange.0

I been having problems with Aol on Netgear router. Keeps loosing connecion. Called Aol sunday as it got worse.Put new settings in the router and its been ok,not perfect as it still loses connection but only once so far.
Netgear has a update for Aol users but there is no way i can remember all the settings Aol told me to do.

Hi, AOL rang me this week, updating in progress. They said I was entitled to free upgrade to Platinum. When I said I did not want my line rental changed from BT, they became hostile. She maintained my speed would increase by just switching in the exchange. I queeried this as I still have BT copper line, and BT claim I can achieve 4mbs max.Can my speed be inreased to 24mbs as she said? also, if I change my line from BT, do I have to pay to return if I change ISP? The platinum that is comparrible with my Talk plan unlimited is £14.99 + £11+ line rental. I only pay £6.99 and BT £11+ line at present.Any AOL ers had the upgrade?I been having problems with Aol on Netgear router. Keeps loosing connecion. Hmm I think they were talking porkies Joe. I'm on AOL platinum and I still have my BT line.
Maybe you could call them back and ask exactly what the "upgrade" is.
See www.samknows.com
to find out what's available at your exchange. If aol LLU is available that's probably what they mean and you [STRIKE]will[/STRIKE] should:D get a faster speed. If not then they are probably just trying to get you to sign a new 18 month contract for more products.
It's only a game

Hi, I have not long signed a new 18 month contract, they reduced it to £6.99. They are upgrading today, as I have phoned, and it,s on my a/c. At present I get anything up to 3.5mbs, on a good day, normally around 2mbs.Does me for what I require.I think It,s the line they are after, I don,t like all my eggs in 1 basket. Been with them 5 years, no probs, it,s TT now though? I cannot imagine getting 24mbs without cable can you? thanks for reply. Been on sam, AOL, BT, TT, orange, O2, tiscali, all LLU available at exchangeMrsBartolozzi wrote: »Hmm I think they were talking porkies Joe. I'm on AOL platinum and I still have my BT line.

I use 18185 for calls to spain. AOL, stopped 1280, so if they had line, they would, or will even now stop prefix numbers. The number of ISP,s is reducing, so price will rise in time, less choice. We areon borrowed time. They wanted us to have them instead of BT but i said no.
