So sorry HH

It was so quick and you must be in shock. It was hard enough to find out he was so poorly and you really haven't had enough time to get your head around that before having to cope with this too.
Try not to dwell on the last week but look back at the happy times.

HH, I'm really sorry to hear your news. I'd like to send you a little verse that someone sent me on a card when my mum died. I'm not religious but thought it was lovely. It's by Canon Scott Holland.
Death is nothing at all....
I have only slipped away into the next room. I am I and you are you...
Whatever we were to each other, that we are still. Call me by my old familiar name, speak to me in the easy way which you always used. Put no difference into your tone; wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow. Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes we enjoyed together.
Play, smile, think of me, pray for me. Let my name be ever the household word that it always was. Let it be spoken without effort, without the ghost of a shadow on it. What is this death but a negligible accident? Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight?
I am waiting for you, for an interval, somewhere very near, just around the corner. All is well.
My thoughts are with you.

Dear Happy Haddock,
You won't have heard of me but I just wanted to say I'm sorry you have had some bad news recently and I really do hope things are not too painful for you.
Whilst you say it puts debts into perspective, I do totally agree, but also it makes you realise that life's too short - we are only here once and it is not a dress rehearsal and where is the fun in wondering how we can find next months payment, dreading opening most envelopes that come through the letterbox, dreading answering the phone incase it is the telephone pursuit unit.
We do need to sort our debts out and then enjoy our lives to the end to which our money will allow.
But for now, take some time out and don't be too concerned about anything else.
Take Care and I'll have a word upstairs for you. He'll look after him. x
