I don't think it's too late. My father, who grows his own veggies every year, has just potted some tomato seeds and is waiting for them to come through, and I did a load of seeds on Tuesday.

It's a little late, but not too late. In more northern parts of the country it will be later before you can plant them out anyway. It will just mean that they will be a little later ripening. Make sure you sow them in a nice warm room and keep them there in the brightest light possible to try and bring them on as fast as possible.

Last year I planted some in middle of May and still had tomatoes until the middle of October. :)

I'm going to do some this weekend seeing a I'm not too late. I normally buy my plants but it works out much more expensive. I'm trying some 'hundreds and thousands' which I ordered as plants from suttons seeds but I also want some tumbling toms so I'll try sowing a few of those.

It is a bit late, but still worth a try. It's warmer so they could put on a quicker growth spurt. If not, could always give them a dilute feed of Mxicrop seaweed extract - I find that's brilliant when plants are looking that bit behind & need a boost. It's a growth stimulant, but see how you get on first. They might be fine. Perhaps it just seems dead late to me because I get mine in end/Feb. After all, courgettes and beans only just gone in here. Good luck!

Remember....if you have to put it on a credit card, extend your overdraft or take out a loan to buy whatever it is, you probably can't afford it, as that's not your money, it's somebody else's!
