Redundnacy - Advice please

My employer has advised that it will be announcing redundancies in the next 2 weeks. The company is based in Ireland however i work in a uk office. If redundancies are made in the UK office (which is more than likely) would i be entitled to claim the same statutory redundancy payment as my Irish counterparts?
In the UK we are entitled to 1 weeks pay for every year however in Ireland they are entitled to 2 weeks pay for every year + 1 week on top of that
Any advice would be greatfully recieved

I have just run some redundancies in Ireland and you are correct in that their statutory entitlement is higher so I can see why you would ask.

The first thing is to check your contract. Does it have a reference to the company you work for being a UK registered company or the legislation teh document is based under? I suspect it will be a contract under UK law / or a UK company which unfortunately will mean the company only has to pay you UK statutory redundancy pay only but you should check this.

Failing this, (and in the case that you were made redundant) it is always worth asking for parity but I doubt you will have a legal leg to stand on.
