Heater Matrix

bars leak sealer is better than radweld, but either can sometimes block cooling passages. if the car isn't worth fixing properly you have nothing to lose by giving it a try. use fresh coolant, old coolant is often what causes leaks in the first place as the corrosion inhibitors break down after 3-5 years0

No, it won't help it at all. The solution is to replace the heater matrix, normally a big job.0

i have been told about £40 fro the matrix and up to £120 to fit it (the glove box and other things have to come out so yep a big job.

It took me several hours to fit a new matrix on a Hyundai Accent coupe. It's a lot of faff with bits of trim to remove and refit.
Radweld might work for a while, but it will start leaking again.
You're better off bypassing the matrix altogether, but obviously not so clever in winter.Happy chappy0 -
could have bypassed it this winter lol
thanks for all the advive0 -
If money is really tight you could just bypass it for now with some hose and change the coolant until winter comes back again.0

Bypass it, get the matrix and a haynes manual and go for it yourself. It'll buy you some time.
If you try and cant, it'll still only be £120 to fit. The haynes manual will pay for itself in other ways.0 -
