DLA tax with less than a year left on award?

I've started to learn to drive again recently and will be getting a car in the next month or so if all goes well. I get HRM and as the car will be mine it'll only be used by me, or for me, so I'd like to get a disabled tax disc. I can't see anything online that says you can't have one if you've got less than a year left on your award but I'd like to know so that I can budget for it if needs be. My award's up in November.
Thanks in advance for any help!

can you not just ask for 6 months free raod tax as opposed to 12 months?if this isnt possible then do the 12 months and if you lose your hrm then surrender the tax and pay for it yourself, alternatively contact the dvla for advice or dla at blackpool0

I just didn't know if they did it for 6 months as I know this costs more. Thanks for your reply, I'll contact the DVLA.0
