sleep mode - alter your power settings, and you can also change if/when the pc sleeps (can't remember how off the top of my head and I'm sitting at an XP machine)

That is the theory. The problem is that Vista doesn't fully obey these. I turned off 'all' automatic sleep functions that I could see, such that it always remained active, yet still if the machine is left on and unused for an extended period it can lose the network connection.

Thankfully, my set-up is only very rarely suffering the problem, and I can't make it happen on demand, so I haven't tried to progress it further.

Strange, I'm suffering from kind of the same problem but I am using Win7 and with talktalk.

Hi Rik, thanks for the help again.

I am having a few issues getting the log file - I ran and posted one the other day here

but thought i would download again from your link in case it wasn't fully up to date.

Then I noticed the 01/01/10 day on the log file and the fact it said safe mode and uninstalled and reinstalled and then deleted the log file - now i can't get notepad to save one. I had hoped it would be recreated on reinstall?

The obvious thing to try is stop HOTSPOT SHIELD from running

It's disconnected, and I only installed that recently, the problem dates back prior to that.

Should i get rid even though it's disconnected 99% of the time - i don't really use it
