New cheap train booking website - MyTrainTicket

The way these websites and train companys work, is using the SAME booking system. They all use the same booking engine, just change the colours and slight change of the layout of the booking system! There is hardly any difference between all the types of websites selling train tickets appart from the styles used.Anyone who struggles with the complexities of finding the cheapest ticketing, and judging by the queries seen on this board there are many, may well find this new tool of some use.
Those who do understand these things may also find it useful because it takes a lot of the manual work out of the process."No likey no need to hit thanks button!":pHowever its always nice to be thanked if you feel mine and other people's posts here offer great advice:D So hit the button if you likey:rotfl:0 -
I do understand that all booking systems use the same data, and that there appear to be only two booking engines. The way these websites and train companys work, is using the SAME booking system. I suggest that styles used may be significant to some users... those who find the ticketing process daunting, for example.
Is there a another ticketing website that copes with split ticketing?
On the basis of one example, this one appears to do so... reasonably well too.

I'd just point out. I used the search to find an off peak ticked from Fareham to London (travelcards) and the result was £21.30 - from Southerns website it was £17.50....Proud of who, and what, I am. :female::male::cool:0

I booked 3 return tickets thru Mytrainticket, as usual indicating my hubby's senior railcard.
When we collected the tickets, all of them said Senior railcard so we had to buy 2 extra ones in order to travel.
We always book rail rickets online and always tick for railcards if we have them.
I just checked on the Mytrainticket website and sure enough is says that all travellers must be covered by the same railcard - I didn't notice that when I booked. None of the other booking sites do that.
So I'm now out of pocket for 2 useless return tickets. I think I'll stick to trainline.com in future.0 -

Southern do offer lots of discounts if bought through them.
I really dont think this is a very MSE thing to be sending out to people - it charges you whereas TOCs and other 3rd parties dont and that is what you should be holding up to people.
Keith P - the whole split ticketing thing is easy enough to do on your own anyway - just look at the calling points of your service and do that on a TOC site. Its nice that you say they do this(i havent checked) but again for a site that is about money saving getting charged for buying a ticket is wrong.one of the famous 5

I just checked through this site - it wanted to charge me over £60 for a journey I booked through East Coast and paid £25 for. Also, East Coast didn't charge me any booking feeMurphy's No More Pies Club #209

Geordieracer, just to let you know. KeithP was a regular on here, doing the same as us help rail travellers, but for some reason he stopped posting and hasn't posted since 17-08-2010 so don't take offence if he doesn't answer you back.Whoa! Then the Lesson to be learn here is quite simple, stay clear of Mytrainticket and do the sensible thing and buy direct from the relevant Train company website.Whoa! This image violates our terms of use and has been removed from view0
