Hi, guys, I am not a car expert so I've got a question to ask. Can car tyres go flat if you do not use a car for some time?

Yes. They will also crack and become unsafe if left standing for too long.

That depends of various factors including exposure to the elements, the type of tyre, the weight on it, previous wear, pressure, etc.

What are you thinking of doing? Putting the vehicle in to storage?

Oh, well I wouldn't worry. As long as the tyres are OK before you go they'll be fine for a week. A month even.

If you're worried about pressures just check them at the services when you leave the airport, which we're all suppose to do at least once a week (hic).

My car is only 10 month old, I've only checked the tyre pressure 3 or 4 times. I am thinking about buying this tyre gauge or compressor.. they aren't very cheap. is it worth it?

A decent footpump with a guage is less than £20.

+1 to a foot pump. By the time you have messed around with a low powered electric pump on one tyre you would have all four done with a fairly decent foot pump. And the cheap electric ones don't tend to last fairly long. I have tried them.

So have I. One from Halfords lasted about a dozen uses and then failed. The replacement they gave me didn't work. I got my money back.
