recommend a good cooker hood

Can anyone recommend a good cooker hood,
I want to get one that not too expensive on the filters.
The chimney hood cant be sited on an outside wall so
will be using hood on recycle mode.
We have at the moment have a extractor fan on the other side of kitchen on a out side wall, which helps with steam when cooking, but feel it would be better to use a fan above cooker while cooking.
Was looking at this one in Argos http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/4699716/Trail/searchtext%3ECOOKER+HOOD.htm
Thankyou for advice

Noooooo....
Don't get that one, Baumatic are pretty poor!
You should be able to get an unbranded one, made by Elica for a similar price and will have a better re-cirulating rate...If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands

I bought one of these kind (approx 2 years ago)

Its a luxair one - the one I have is a bit bigger and I have never used filters in it. Don't know if you are supposed to but have never had any bother with it.
Quite good that you get a free 5 years parts and labour warranty. I remember at the time I bought it - they had good reviews from WHICH.

Look for one where you can wash the filters in a dishwasher. Then you won't need to have to splash out on replacements.0

have you considered ducting to the outside wall or would that not be practical?Look for one where you can wash the filters in a dishwasher. Then you won't need to have to splash out on replacements.
though it says here http://http://www.johnlewis.com/Magazine/Feature.aspx?Id=41 that you'll still need to replace the charcoal filter every year or so.0 -

My Siemens extractor has 2 modes and mine is switched to exhaust-air rather than recirculating. The instructions state that carbon filters only need changing for use with recirculation mode. For exaust-air extraction, you just wash the metal filters.
ETA: Just read buckrogers' post above and it sounds as though it might have to be a recirculating extractor. In that case, the carbon filters will need to be replaced, unfortunately.0 -
