Hi,

I am planning a tour of France for next summer and was just wondering what is the cheapest method to cross the channel (Dover-Calais) - is the ferry cheaper than the tuneel for a car+2 people.

Also can you still bring back lots of beer/wine?

Any other tips would be great.

I've found that leg to be best priced with Hoverspeed and Sea France.
www.aferry.to is a grand place to price it up. Also you pay more if your return is more than 5 days later ....

Try Speedferries or Norfolk line (both from Dover but one to Boulogne and one to Dunquerqe) - much cheaper than the competition. We went with Norfolk line in March for £62.00 return and the ferry was brand new, the meal on board was lovely and very reasonably priced, overall 10/10. Going with Speed ferries in October, £58.00 return. Their prices are the same all year and for any length of stay.

You can bring back stuff for your own use if you buy it duty paid in France. I don't think there is a limit per person any more.
