My partner and I have been looking at houses for a while, but hadn't really planned on buying anywhere as found nowhere we liked.
Then we found a house about a week and a half ago that we fell in love with (it was a bargain too). I called up and put an offer in, and was told we were the first people to put an offer in. The estate agent then told me that they HAD to let us know if anyone else put an offer.
So I have spent a week and a half, worrying like anything, praying I didn't get a phone call saying someone had taken the house, and never heard anything. In this time, we put our house on the market and got ready to sell!
I called the estate agent yesterday just to see if they had accepted our offer. She told me that there are LOADS of offers on the property and that other people are ready to proceed so there's basically no way we will get it. THE CHEEK! After she told me they HAD to let us know if someone else put an offer in. I kind of expected someone else to get the house, but i'm so angry out of principle. If we had known, we may have not put our house on the market.
First question: Did the estate agent have to let us know if anyone put an offer in?
Next question: Our house is on the market and it is unlikely we will find anything we like as much. If we decide to come off the market, do we have to wait a certain amount of time and will we be charged?
Thanks!

Its poor form on the EA not to tell you if they said they would. As your house was not on the market you probably have not been taken seriously as you are not proceedable and the other party are so I am with the EA on this one i'm afraid.0 -
You will only be charged by the estate agent if your house sells. You may need to keep it on the market until the end of the contract - check the terms of your agreement0

And if the HIP was part of the EA's deal (eg the EA organised the HIP on a pay-when-you-sell basis), you'll be liable for that.0

I understand that we may not have been taken seriously as our house was only just put on the market, HOWEVER, my issue is with the fact she told me that she had to let me know if an offer was made and then didn't.
Does anyone know if they do infact have to let you know of other offers made?
We have already paid for our HIP so know that money is lost. Finally, debt free for the first time since I was 18!:DFirst baby born: 21/05/2014Second baby born: 04/03/20170 -
You can register an interest I think if you're putting an offer in - I think that means they then have to tell you of other offers...0

what does it matter - you cannot proceed.....0
