Dropping a kerb quote

Want / need to have the kerb dropped on the pavement in front of our drive, got in touch with the Council who have a list of contractors I can use. The Council charged £66 for inspection on top of whatever the contractor charges for the work.

Had one of the contractors quote me last night at £700-750 for the job. Now Ive got another 4 contractors to quote me yet so will wait and see what they come up with, but is £750 fair game? Im in SE Wales and thought maybe £400 would be closer the mark (although I have nothing to base my guess on!)

i think thats the going rate for most councils. i take it you dont need planning permission, as that would increase the costs even further

  • No planning permission needed, the council have agreed i can do it just need to pick a contractor and give the council 7 days notice. Its got to be done so looks like Im gonna be coughing up the dosh soon!
