Lloyds TSB accounts freeze

Just tried to use my LTSB debit card online, was rejected twice.

Then tried to move money from my LTSB current account to my halifax Current account via faster payment, got an error message.

Tried to move money between LTSB accounts, error messgae.

Called up, the customer service advisor said there was a block on my accounts and i'd have to call back between 8am and 8pm to speak to the right department.

I'm a bit worried about what it might be, also what would have happened had I been trying to pay for petrol or something. Also, would a cash machine have eaten my card??

Has anyone had any experience of anything like this? A total block isn't something i've heard of before.

Hi, I know it's been a long time since you posted. LLoyds keep doing it to my account ... now it's already the third time... and the worst part is that it happened when I just got off the plane in foreign country and I ended up not being able to pay or withdraw my money or transfer them between my accounts:( I could not pay for a car or hotel. Anyway it was a disaster. How did you sort it out? they promised to call me.. and it's been a week now and nobody has. I haven't been able to use my debit card in almost a month now and I'm seriously considering consulting with my lawyers. How long can they freeze an account for?
    thank you very much :)

If they haven't got back to you after 24 hours then I doubt they're going to get back to you, get back in touch with them, the only to get it sorted.

In your case did you inform Lloyds that you were leaving the country?

I believe they're well within their rights to freeze the account to prevent fraud.
