M&S Sale
Comments
-
It was in the paper a couple of days ago that M&S amongst others have upped their sizing to flatter us ladies into believing that we have lost weight and now fit into a smaller size.
Which is INCREDIBLY irritating for those of us who are small and can't get clothes that fit any more.
I got a skirt in store today that I'd seen a few days ago and liked - v glad I didn't buy it since it's now in the sale. They only had a 12 upwards online this afternoon, but I found an 8 in store. Too big in the waist, like all M&S clothes seem to be on me, but since it's a skirt I can just pull it down to sit on my hips and not look like a teenage boy with my crotch round my knees.0 -
I need advice please, i badly need lots of new clothes but am hopeless at choosing. I want stuff for everyday wear, not work related. i like trousers, but
i need 14 for waist and then they are bg on the hips , this is my slimmest bit.! I always havet to take them in. Linen is bad for extra bagines, and some cargos etc are too young looking!! I am scared of looking weird in leggins with long tops to! help!! need a personal shopper.
BTW all tesco and asda and even next stuff i find quite horrible this year!! Its hard to not look cheap and tacky at this age 50! or frumpy!!0 -

I'd say try a few stores, try a few labels. If you can stomach it, try TK Maxx (lots of different brands). Each brand/label/store will use a slightly different fit model so a size 14 from one store may fit your waist perfectly whilst a size 14 from another store may be too small and from another different store may be too large....I think its all trial and error. Added to that, fit models will change every few years (but then so do our bodies) so if you can, keep revisiting old stores and seeing what works.
M&S used to be too large on the bust and shoulders but too short on the legs, now their tops are fine on the bust but too short....Topshop used to always fir me, now only some designs work...its hard!!
If your really at a loss, try somewhere like Debenhams (they stock a few high street brands) and ask to see a personal stylist who will talk to you for a bit, find out what your looking for and try to find stuff which works for you. House of Fraiser are another store which offer this but they tend to stock brands which cost more. Think about your budget! Any personal stylist will ask what your budget is and try working too it (and you are at no obligation to buy) but its always nice knowing you can get more for your money.0 -
thanks Jennie
theres just too much choice in the shops!! I often check TK max but only ever found one top. My sis could shop with me but she has loadsa money and i cant keep up with her level of merchandise. she makes me feel so inferior, as she is always so well dressed, she has real style too.
I see you are another late night poster/! ?
