What to grow on my Kennel? 8' by 5', and 4' tall - advice please :)
Rejigged the garden today and I now have more space but also space onto of kennel to grow (in pots obviously). It's 8' x 5' so quite a big space, but was wondering what would be good? It has a corrugated metal roof.
I do have a few pots already but was thinking some trailing veg might be good on there, such as cucumber and squash but wondered it trailing them across would damage flesh.. as you can tell i'm completely new to this. Everything will be in troughs or similar as any higher and I won't be able to see to look after them properly
So.. any ideas guys?

In a similar vein, Erythronium dens-canis or Cynoglossum officinale?
Seriously, what about small tumbler tomatoes, though it is quite a hostile environment heat-wise and you might have problems in windy weather too.
I think I'd just go with cut & come again salad greens in troughs. No bending to harvest them.0 -
I've seen it done where a frame is built over the structure, not touching it, but over it (to help it being shaded actually, it was a greenhouse) and climbing beans are grown up it.
That would work well, you'd get the heat from the metal at night (although not sure how long that would last) to help the plants and the plants and frame would help keep the dog house cooler in the day.
You could build it out of canes etc, if you made a much heavier frame, you could grow things like squash up it, although beans are more productive,
It does mean that you need a sunnyish spot on the ground to be able to plant the things into though.Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0
