My dog is limping again.......

First started in mid-February: Took him to the vet, they put him out and removed what they said was an infected claw, back and forth for the next seven days for re-bandaging etc and on lots of antibiotics, seemed fine.
On 8th March the limping started again: Back to vet, they put him out again and said there was some necrotic bone in the toe that they had previously removed the claw from and so they cut this out. He was sent home with some very strong antibiotics and we were told we could remove the bandage in three days. No need to go back this time unless there were any problems.
Today the limping has come back:eek: For over a month he has been absolutely fine and we were sure he had made a complete recovery. So I phoned the vet and he has to go back tomorrow morning
Poor little boy, they may have to amputate his toe.
I have already filled in two insurance claim forms, whereas if they had held back a bit the first time, it could have been done on one.
My OH says that if it was a car and you had to keep taking it back for the same problem, they would surely have to fix it for nothing, but of course it doesn't work like that with vets.
It is just so stressful for all of us and especially poor dog.
This means yet another insurance claim form to be filled in. Goodness knows what they will put our premium up to this year and our dog is only 3 years old.

Stopped smoking 27/12/2007, but could start again at any time

Sorry about your poor doggy.
I shouldn't think the fact that you put in 2 claims makes much difference moneywise - they'll treat it as an ongoing problem, so you should already have paid the excess and the rest'll be covered. (Depending on your insurer of course, but that's how mine works.) Unless you cross over into the next premium year.
You may also find that rather than the premium going up by huge amounts, the bigger increase will be on the excess. Still, that is why we have insurance, when all's said and done. Mutt has recurring conditions, and it is very frustrating when you think you've made progress and end up back at square one.
Perhaps when you get back to the vet it won't be as bad as you fear. Fingers and toes crossed for you and your pooch. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0
