Final elecricity bill (pre-payment meter)

Options
I moved out my flat about the 19th of January this year and never told Scottish Power I left the flat. I got a call from a debt company saying they wanted 146 pounds for an estimated bill that is from November till March this year even though I was out the propert for 2 and a half of those months. ANy ideas what to do? The company wants documentation proving when I left the flat but there is none.

Do you have a tenacy agreement for the property you are in now as that could act as proof as to when you moved out.

    Hi mark mick

If we are not notified of you moving out of the property and we have not been contacted by the new tenants to confirm that the property is occupied again, we will request confirmation of when you moved out, either by providing a copy of your tenancy agreement or confirming the details in writing so that we can refer back to this should there be any discrepancies with the new tenants.

If you do not have a tenancy agreement for your old flat or your new flat, right a letter to us to confirm details of your tenancy and when you left the property. Make sure that you sign the letter and we will be able to amend the account accordingly.

If you want me to look into the account details for you then just sent me your details and I will check the current situation.

    Kind Regards

Even though the current bill goes up to March, the fact it's an estimated bill could also be upping your bill. If you/your lettings agent/landlord have a copy of the meter reading at the time you moved out, be sure to provide that too. :)
