Title says it all really, I am considering cancelling my virgin broadband contract, as I'm considering a better deal elsewhere, but would like to keep my email address - would I be able to do this?

Approximately similar to asking whether you can keep the original street address if you move house...0

I'm aware that my query may seem silly to some, however when I moved out my previous home and had to stay with family for 5 weeks, Virgin did allow me to downgrade to pay as u go/dial up, and thus still have access to the email address. I was simply enquiring whether anyone knew if this may still be an option0

Says you can only have dial up if you stick with VM for your phone line, which probably is not part of the plan.
You really need to separate your email from your broadband provider. Either get a G Mail Account or buy your on domain so you can me@myname.co.uk or something.0 -

I like that reply, succinct !Disclaimer : Everything I write on this forum is my opinion. You still can. I left Virgin 12 months ago but I can still access my email account via web mail.0 -

Get a free account with Hotmail, Yahoo or Gmail etc. etc. (which are not tied to your ISP). Otherwise you'll have the hassle of changing addresses every time you change your ISP. :cool:Marching On Together
I've upped my standards...so up yours!0 -
such a pain isn't it, like not being able to take your phone number, I pay BT £1.50 a month to keep my email addy....Blackpool_Saver is female, and does not live in Blackpool0

You can't !!! I left Virgin a while back... had access to my virgin email for a while after that. Then one day NO ACCESS anymore.
Called them kindlt asking them if they could give me access for a few hours as I had some important emails, bills, accounts etc....confirmation of holiday also.
They asked if I was still with them, when I said NO they just hung up on me
Emailed them and never heard back from them either !!!! Rockets !!!! lol
So if you still have access just now ? they will eventually catch up with you and you will find yourself not being able to log in one day !!!
Hope this helps.0 -
Why don't you just open and email account with Gmail and then just email everyone your new address? If anyone cares about staying in contact with you they'll soon update it.Happy with my advice? The please use the 'thanks' button vvvvvvvvvvvvv0
