Your-move.co.uk Are they any good??

Thinking of selling my house through Your-move.co.uk. charging 1.5% commission .. no sale no fee.

are they any good.. or can you reccomend me some other estate agent thats any better?

What should i look for in an Estate Agent. Heard some good and bad stories about them all.

Hi, sorry no experience with your move, however countrywide estate agents who use rightmove.co.uk, their fee at 1% plus vat. no sale no fee. Marketing charges are 288 pounds plus vat, then it is extra if you want an ad with them in a newspaper.

First up: I used to work for Your Move so you may want to treat this post with a pinch of salt !

Although I've not used Your Move myself (not yet sold a house & current house was a new build when we moved in), I would definately consider using them in the future. I was not customer facing while I worked there, but dealt with performance stats, etc so I had quite a good overall view of the operations.

In fact, I'm hoping to relocate in the next few months and would consider using Your Move even though their closest branch is quite a way away from where I'm living at the moment. 1.5% isn't too bad, though you should be able to find a few 1% 's

We are currently in the process of selling our property with your move & would have to be honest and say we are VERY unhappy with this agent.

It has taken 6 months to get a buyer & only 5 viewings in that time.

I would recommend negotiating a fee as they wanted a flat fee well in excess of 1% and study the contract carefully.

Have only had experience of Your Move as a first time buyer but we were very unhappy with them - we had nothing but lies from them, and my friend had the same thing with a different branch. We know they were lying (to be fair it was mostly from one person at Your Move, but at some point we spoke to everyone in the office and had different stories from each of them) as they contradicted themselves and told us we had said / done things that we definitely hadn't. Oh yes, and they were telling us lies about our solicitor too such as they'd spoken to him when he wasn't even in the office that day and so on.

We were messed around a lot but we stuck with it only because we really wanted the house at the price it was on for. By the time we eventually completed it was worth more.

I think estate agents vary from area to area.

A local chain of estate agents was selling my MIL's house and they were useless, we 'mystery shopped' them and they didn't give us the details of her house even though we asked for everything her house had and asked about that price bracket!
A friend of mine sold a house with the same chain, different branch 10miles away and they couldn't have been better, giving lots of feedback and arranging lots of viewings (they were both up at about the same time so it wasn't just the market). As a buyer (for my MIL) this other branch have been very good, chasing for feedback and confirming MIL's position etc.

I would suggest that you either ask around people in your local area (or arrange a veiwing on a suitable house for you that is up with your move and ask the seller if they are any good) Or, post your general area on here and see if anyone can PM you local information.

I have no experience of Your Move as a seller, but as a buyer (again for MIL) I think they are excellent.
The local branch I have registered with really listened to everything MIL needed (e.g no victorian steep stairs, on a bus route because she has bad legs and can't walk far or up steep steps) The sales woman sent me details of all suitable properties in the areas I requested and she phones me up every time another property comes on the market which will be suitable. They don't waste my time telling me about unsuitable properties but they are very pro-active with suitable properties, something a lot of estate agents have forgotten how to do since during the recent boom houses were selling themselves :rolleyes:
