URGENT HELP £180 dress falling apart "is to be expected???"

Hi, I am really hoping that someone can help me. I purchased a dress from asos, it was £180, I bought it to go to a wedding that is in a couple of weeks. The dress has sequin embelishment all over it. When the dress arrived it was fine and I was really happy with it. I was going for a meal with my husband about 10 days ago and decided to wear it. I had it on for about 2 hours in total and was sat down eating, not jumping around etc.
By the time we got home there was whole lines of sequins missing aswell as lots of odd ones. My car seat had about 50 odd on it alone. I thought that really a dress that cost this much should not look a mess after 2 hours of wear. I didn't feel I could wear it to the wedding as it was really obvious that there were sequins missing all over it, including right in the centre where a full line or 2 had come off.
I emailed and got a returns label sent to me, it was obviously a generic email. I sent it back explaining the problem and stating that with a dress this expensive i would not expect it to be falling apart and that I wanted a full refund.
I received an email today saying that they had inspected the dress and that the missing sequins are "to be expected" as they are hand sewn and that that is the "nature" of this garment therefor they will be returning the dress to me and will not issue a refund.
The dress looks a mess, I cannot beloeve that I am expected to accept a dress costing that much should be expected to fall apart.
what can I do??

When dealing with ASOS, it's often better to post a complaint in the Help/Feedback section of their forum, which is here.
Most people seem to get the result they're after if they post the complaint there[STRIKE]Seventeen[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]Eighteen[/STRIKE] Nineteen(!) year old student - dim at the best of times0
