pressure cooker?

have a newish tefal pressure cooker, but it wont pressure.
when i press down on the lid , then seems like its working, but as soon as i let go, the little red button goes down again.
any ideas of what problem might be.
i actually bought it from charity shop, still in box, tho no instruction book, and looked as it may have been used only once.

Hi rabialiones, do you have the model number of the pressure cooker? Might be able to find you an instruction manual for it if you do.

Does the lid have a rubber ring running around the inside? Our pressure cooker recently did the same as yours is doing, but I simply bought another rubber seal for it, and now it works just fine again. HTH

does have a rubber ring, but as i mention, its hardly been used, and the rubber ring does not look worn.
cannot find model no. but its a tefal delicio 6l , aahh! found a ref no. on bottom of box, this might be model no. 4049859
