Banks loosing paper work

Can any body help. I split with my ex partner over 3 months ago now. When we split he agreed he would take over the joint bank account and the overdraft (as we got it for him). He signed the relevant forms and I handed them into my bank. After a few weeks past and no response following this from the bank I called them. They said they have no record of the paper work, and to hang on incase its late in being posted. Since then the relationship has turned nasty and police have had to be involved. The bank suggested doing another form as they couldnt find the original form. My ex has refused this now and is purposely being spiteful and wants to leave me with his debt, and the bank now say that they cannot do anything without a signed form, even though THEY have lost my paper work. I dont know what else to do does anyone have any suggestions?

I am so sorry to hear of your situation, what a nasty person your partner is. Contact the bank and tell them that they must search for the paperwork until they find it. I doubt it was thrown away. It may even be worth getting the branch manager involved. The last thing you want is for their incompetence to leave you with an onerous debt. I know it is inconsequential but is the bank in question Santander by any chance? All the best.Money is a wise mans religion0 -
Whatever course of action you take tell the bank you are going through a dispute with the joint acct holder and you would like the account freezing, that will prevent any further transactions on the account apart from any debit interest or charges and prevent him using any more of the overdraft.0

I think the bank involved is RBS, they are awful at everything.0

The Bank is Natwest so yes the RBS group. I am going to go into the relevant branch and see what they are going to do about it. It doesnt seem fair that they can just effectively worsen my current situation through their mistakes. Thank you for all replying.
