what counts as partners for tax credits

Hi myself and my childrens father live together in the same house although we are not together (separate rooms etc) I was advised by a friend of mine this week that we should not have a joint tax credit claim. I assumed because we are still living under the same roof we are classed as "partners". Can anyone advise?
Thanks

Hi lana. I cannot help you with this but I am going to ask a BG to move your thread to Benefits and Credits, where someone will know the answer. I am not sure how you have ended up here - this section of the boards is to tell everyone what lovely prizes they have won in comps
You could stick around whilst you wait to be moved and enter a few. Good luck

Sorry, can't help, but wanted to let you know you posted your question in the 'I Won' section of the competitions board. Not sure how you get it moved...
