Different area of the country Back, but seems more common a problem than you think obviously, No choice but to walk is there really if/when you ever came to sell the property same issue would come up on the survey, bit like putting a car through an auction with a fault and hope the seller doesnt pick up on it, and hope eventually you get shot of it.0

Yeah, we walked away, not worth taking the punt that we could offload it onto another mug.
Just lucky we had the full survey done as otherwise could have gone in blind.0 -
does anybody have a link to what the official regulations are regarding the dimensions you are allowed to extend the property by and the building regulations you must satisfy? It seems this has been a moving goalpost over the years and it all depends on the time the work was done?
As a last resort it appears an indemity insurance can be taken out by the vendor whilst the neccessary regulation is obtained from building control as I understand it....... Are there any pitfalls of the indemnity insurance , my understanding is that it would be transferable with the property should we decide to sell it at a later stage, My builder seems to think that the indemnity insurance is easily obtainable but like any insurance will depend on the risk, I am assuming the risk being insured is the chance of it falling down anytime soon.0
