The thing is a lot of the children I care for don't go anywhere else - not to nursery, Pre School or School - so they would be benefiting from the items I get with the vouchers.

There's probably a cost aspect to it. Registering loads of childminders, dealing with low numbers of vouchers, and arranging delivery of products/equipment probably isn't worth it when they can just deal with nurseries and schools that send in high volumes of vouchers and the goods can be despatched in bulk to them.

I agree that admin costs are likely to play a part.

Also, most CM's have their own children who would benefit from the free new toys - the scheme was means to help schools/scouts etc where own children dont really play a part.

As for discrimination, the world has gone mad. Their "charity/reward" scheme so their rules.

Can i sue Sainsbury's for discriminating against me by not letting me park in a disabled bay just because i am not registered disabled?

Some disabled people are a lot fitter than me.

Well, actually, if you WERE disabled without a blue badge, and Sainsbury's prevented you from using a bay just because you didn't have one, you would be well within your rights to take issue, under the DDA.

I know it's not relevant, but it is an interesting point.

There is nothing to stop you collecting vouchers and handing them over to your local school or playgroup for the children in your community to benefit. It does not state on the voucher that you have to be a parent to collect them. But everybody will have a local group who can use them, just not a childminder.

I could, but I wont on principle.
I do enough for the kids in the community with my taxs already and would normally boycott sainsburys during their school voucher promotion, but seeing as their superunleaded is 5p cheaper than anyone else I still go.

It would just be nice If I was offered an alternative to school vouchers for a change instead of being left out for not breeding.

Wait, what? Are you serious?
Do you boycott them when they raise money for charities as well? Or just for children? What about if it's for children's charities?

I collect the vouchers for the nursery at work, even though I have no children and I'm not likely to have any for the next few years. Why? Because it doesn't cost me anything and it requires no effort. I'm lazy.

Deadly serious, I am selective about which charities to support and children's charities are not on my list for similar reasons.

I am not a total meanie I do however support 2 charities that are close to my heart with a monthly donation and support another by doing free consultancy work.

I do understand you only supporting the 2 charities close to you but wheres the need in boycotting sainsburys just because you dont give to that particular charity?

The money for the "giveaways" comes from the customer so there is a cost to everyone shopping with Sainsburys.

I accept the vouchers and give them away but I would much rather Sainsburys concentrated on lowering prices and let me decide if I want to support a charity or not (same goes for Tesco).
