Mismatched kitchen work surfaces

Please could anyone help me with a BIG problem I have had with Wickes regarding solid wood kitchen worktops.
The ones delivered were mismatched in colour...ie one was orange and the dark brown. I wasn't living in the house when they were fitted and the joiner who fitted them didn't realise just how different they were until the next day.
Wickes have 'finally' (after 6 weeks) agreed to send out more work tops but refuse to help with any costs towards the joinery/plumbing work needed to replace them. Is there anything i can do??

Ask the joiner to fix their error?
  • Thanks for the reply...Have already discussed this point with the joiner...however he said that he didn't fit the worktops in error....he just used the goods supplied.
Also the plumber would have to be recalled as the sink is within one of the worktops.
And really...thank god he did fit the worktops as we would have been without kitchen and sink for 6 weeks due to Wickes shocking aftercare service.

To be fair, they are giving you new worktops, which is all they really have to do. The worktops should have been checked BEFORE installation, by either yourself or the joiner and when found to be wrong, the installation shouldn't have gone ahead...
If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands
