Cardiff Pinnacle

Can any one advise if they have had any luck claiming back PPI back from Cardiff Pinnacle as paid £10,600 to a broker company called Loan Express who have now gone in to receivership although the loan was with GE money who stated they are not responsible but they where who all correspondence were with. I have received a questionaire from Pinnacle and completed. Have also requested rebate as loan was settled in 20 months l believe £10,600 paid as a single policy PPI l should have been given a substantial rebate. This has become a nightmare as also GE Money charged us after 19 months payments £14,000 interest on settlement. Can any one advise or been in similar situation.
This is with the FLA and they really dont appear to be interested.

I have a different type complaint with them going on at the moment. Its about being over insured (duplicate insurance) and they at first were very good in replying and passing the complaint via a manager and saying they would refund as we were duplicated in this insurance BUT then after 20 emails or so backwards and forwards they changed their minds and refused.

I did think that this company was a good company in that they were fair etc compared to lots on here and would have actually recommended them BUT I have since changed my mind. They send us round the block and actually let us down in the end AFTER stating they would refund. As you can now imagine I am anti Cardiff Pinnacle at the moment. Will post up when I hear anything though.

We are expecting to hear from them as they stated "in a few days time" but as yet we have heard nothing.

Just updating you it appears GE Money charged us £10961.46 for PPI policy and have just been advised they all paid Pinnacle £5480.70 it appears they have doubled the amount they have charged + interest.
Cardiff Pinnacle are going to send over original insurance agreement.
Meanwhile have contacted GE Money and they state they are investigating.

Have just been advised by Cardiff Pinnacle there was never a policy in my husbands name, GE Money are stating they set-it up with Cardiff for a Joint policy and Cardiff are stating my husband was never set-up and have no records of him on the system.
So who owes me the £5470 paid for my husband + interest as single premium policy as both blaming each other.

Have you got it in writing from GE Money that they set this up with Cardiff and also did you request a SAR from GE. If you have the policy details then the insurer would be on them usually?

Just to check here that your policy was sold by a broker and the broker is in administration. IF the policy was sold after 14th Jan 2005 then you could use the FSCS against the BROKER to make the claim as they most likely would have been covered this way. If it was sold after 14th Jan 2005 then you would most probably have to chase the insurer? What date was this sold to you?

Yes l did request SAR from GE Money and the original credit agreement states PPI paid to Pinnacle £10,961.46 for Joint Cover as a single premium policy. But l only ever received a Policy booklet from Pinnacle sent to me and no other paperwork. I was introduced to First National (GE Money) through a broker called Personal Loan Express but they only sent me paperwork and all correspondence on phone and mail was done directly to First National.
GE money have stated this is a seperate complaint from PPI misselling and set me up with a different reference number.
It appears l was charged for a Joint PPI policy and the insurers where only paid for my PPI policy and my husband was never covered but FN pocketed the money.
It will be interesting to see how they will get out of this one.

Well Cardiff Pinnacle have got back to us today and its not good. They have now asked for everything again that has already been sent to them and they state that the person dealing with it can no longer deal with it (this is the 4th person) and that they have passed it to someone else. They have stated that they have until 2nd June to deal with this complaint as it was not passed as an actual complaint until ages after by "customer relations".

I have emailed and will also do hard copies of everything they have asked for "AGAIN!!" and also told them I shall now contact the FSA about their complaints handling.

In fact they have really plummeted in my estimations now. They have also asked for my husbands work address so that they can write to the firm to get it in writing from them his length of service. (it was from 1999 actually) and our policy with them started in 2004. All stalling tactics so they can come back with "no can do"!!!

Just have to play them at their own game now and I shall take to FOS if they do not uphold. I shall be on to every post about Pinnacle on here putting my views. :D

Up to yet not a good insurance firm to deal with.

Sorry to hear that Marshallka. It does seem like stalling tactics. Hoping you are going to give up I think. They do not know you though do they;)
I hope they get their finger out now.

Cheers maxdp. I can only but try as they say. I will not give up cause it is a case of we could never use the insurance at all as we would be better off not working. They say they want to try to see what theirs covers that our works one does not. Other than redundancy there is nothing and we would not have taken out just redundancy cover as my hubby would have just gone back to being a self employed sparky... never any risk really. He is not restricted in our eyes. Just have to fight on and hope for the best and hope that its not another 18 months fos wait.
