Tesco internet phone problem

I've recently brought one of the Tesco internet phones - have registered and plugged it in, but for some reason the phone display always shows as "check PC".
All my firewalls are clear, I can dial out from the software ok but not from the actual handset.
Anyone had any similar problems?

I'm at a loss because Tesco customer support have no answers and I cannot find much on the web about the phones. Have already had 2 replacements so it must be down to something on the PC.
The USB driver for the handset looks to have been installed correctly also.

Never seen one of these. So I'll run through some stuff for you to check, apologies if you've done this.
I'm assuming you're running windows XP and your PC is only a couple of years old. If not then this 1st thing won't work. :-P
First off, check phone is installed properly.
Click start->run. Type in "devmgmt.msc" and click ok. (no quote marks)
Hopefully you'll not see any unknown devices - will have a yellow question mark, or any with exclamation marks. If you do, and it's the phone or an unknown device then best to right click on it, and click uninstall. Then unplug phone and rerun tesco phone software. Then plug phone back in AFTER running the disk or when the disk tells you to plug it in.
Next is to check your USB ports are working ok - try a printer / camera etc. in the same port as you're using the phone in.
I'd suspect a driver problem, but I'm not sure. It's pretty poor that tesco are no help.
If that stuff is of no help, then try to give us some more info - make model, erm what tesco have suspected.....anything really.
Good luck!0 -
