Warning. SKY+ just Might crash on you!!

Users of SKY+

Make sure you do extra hard copies of your favourite shows onto VHS (or DVD) as well as on the built in hard drive.

You wouldnt believe this but our box had to be repaired when it froze. Once re-set, EVERYTHING i'd stored had vanished.... one word for sky....ooops

Apart from that, its actually fantastic to use.

Comments

  • Sorry, but I think somewhere that their Slogan 'TV you control' should be changed to 'TV they Control!'
  • I was going to invest in Sky + but I think I'll wait for a HD Recorder and DVD Recorder Combi to get a little bit cheaper.

I got stung by a cold call offering an introductary deal to up-grade to the whole sky package for an extra £2.50 for 3 months then take-it-or-leave-it. What they didn't make clear was that the £2.50 was per-week! They might have mentioned it, I can't remember, they didn't make it clear enough for me, an ordinary Joe, to understand.

We pay the bill monthly! It is misleading to quote weekly equivilents.

The written confirmation of the deal was (Ithink) deliberatley vague. I called to cancel and was informed I had to give a months notice.

I told them to stuff the whole thing, family package and all. This cut no dice - they said this also was subject to 1 month notice for cancellation! It seems Mr Murdock can afford a few less customers. He certainly has one less now.

Now I can watch adverts and repeats for free on the freeview package! I don't miss it and am glad I'm out.

Well we moved recently and wrote to sky saying to cancel the contract. By moving date we had heard nothing so g/f phoned them to confirm that the account had been cancelled from that date as the dish/box was to be left. They denied all knowledge of any letter and said we had to pay for the next month regardless of the fact we couldn't watch anything as we wouldn't have a system! Whats worse is because we cancelled the DD after what we thought would be the lats payment they have now added on extra charges! We have written and complained and just hget the same answers and no explainations. We were going to resubscribe but now they can get stuffed..... and we have no intention of paying them either!

Sky + is fantastic, esp if you get a Pace V2 box, yes it does crash sometimes, but it is a very complicated piece of Hardware & Software.

A tip to anyone thinking of Sky +, don't let Sky do it, call a local independant, you'll get a much better job without the cr*ppy amstrad box.
