  • Lilibet-- im fine but im astounded at the tactics that these people stoop too.
I think the next step will be for AMEX to take a half page add in the local paper.
I was made redundant in November and am in a job paying 1/3 of the salary--think they would prefer me to sit at home and clain some benefits.Im so angry

as fermi says your first br won't have any bearing today

that's really low of the DCA - make sure you report them (trading standards?)

please speak to one of the debt charities, you will need to before you go br anyway - national debtline, cccs or cab

if there is anything else we can help with please shout
  • Many thanks to all.I shall make a full list and speak to one of the charities.
    Good luck to all.

  • Won't add to the excellent advice the others have given you other than to say bankruptcy now lasts one year.

Here is a list of the numbers for the Debt Charities for you
    • Consumer Credit Counselling Service - Website: CCCS Telephone: 0800 138 1111
    • National Debtline - Website: National Debtline Telephone: 0808 808 4000
    • Citizens Advice Bureau - Website: Citizens Advice or visit your local CAB centre (find nearest)
Others: This is from the first post of the Bankruptcy Help sticky which makes a very good read as a start.

I also went BR due to a business in the late nineties due to a Personal guarantee and due to the downturn have had to go again in March 10. Had the OR interview and they were asking questions more about any credit I got when I was under the 3 year BR previously, they did have all the details to hand such as it was passed to an IP and the exact amount etc. Clarified the line of business I was in and looked for any similarities for both BR.

They did ask how it happened previously and what had I done since then workwise which then he followed upto present day asking about mortgages, cars etc.

He said he was just asking to ensure that I had not incurred things but apart from that said was happy and understood.

Have your answers ready about the previous BR and when you started to get credit again if you did.

The OR interview was pretty painless and the examiner understood that that running a business incurs risks, stated to me that they are seeing a lot of business owners whose Personal Guarantee have been called in by the banks.

Hope it helps and good luck
  • Thanks very much.
Im sure i will ask a few more questins if thats ok in the near future.
    Thanks,Mick

A friend of mine went br 15 years ago as a sole trader, he did the same on 20th Jan this year, again as sole trader. My Wife went br on the 25th March. Up to now their experience with the OR have been virtually identical, whilst they have asked vague details about his previous br it has not led to any BRO/BRA or any difference in the handling.

    Hope that helps a bit
