Sorry if this seems to be a silly question but do BT charge to dial 18866 from your home phone.
Looking to raise some money ;)

    No.

You will be paying BT line rental only- make sure you are on the lowest standard rate for this (£1 a month cheaper too if you pay by Direct Debit).:)
    Born to shop;)

Do you mean to contact 18866 or when you dial 18866 as a pre-select number?

Can't help on the first point as I did all my contacting online, but I would think they might still charge if you want to contact them and you're not yet registered with 18866. But once you have 18866 as a carrier and you dial it before your normal phone number, then no. I have been with 18866 for about 3 months now. My last phone bill with them was for 71p and my BT bill was still the normal £10.50 ish rental fee.

As the earlier posters have said, you don't get charged.

BT charge 18866 for the call, and it's one of the costs that they absorb into their call charges. Given that this inter-operator cost is typically between 0.3-0.7ppm (*), and 18866 will pay a similar fee to terminate calls to a BT line (**), I leave you to draw your own conclusions about the profitability of a service that charges 1p per CALL. Still, if a company wishes to act as a charity, I'm quite happy to give them my business.

(*) depends upon the specifics of the connectivity, time of day and so on
    (**) assuming it's a geographic number
I really must stop loafing and get back to work...
