Trying really hard to moneysave but there seems so much to remember snd take in. I have decided to write notes in each area of the home. ie in kitchen Use Vinegar instead of expensive cleaning fluids, in living room, turn heating down by one degree, in bathroom use up bottles in cupboards before buying new ones. Can anyone share their words of wisdom. Thanks x

Well done for taking the step to save Kacy75, my advice is just take each day at a time, don't go shopping, keep a notebook and jot down spending, create a budget, keep reading the tips. I've been doing it for years and still finding out new things on this great site!0

There are so many tips on Old Style you could write a book about it (Oh yeah, Martin already has!)
The biggest one is asking yourself "do I really need it?" before buying everything, especially impulse purchases. Generally the answer is no, and soon you'll get a bigger kick out of saving money than spending it.0 -
One thing that can help keep food bills down is menu planning, either for the week ahead, fortnight or month (or whatever!)
If you factor in double cooking (for example; cooking up 2 or more pounds of mince in one go, then dividing it up & eating one that day perhaps as spagbog, & putting another batch in the freezer for lasagna or pasta bake or whatever) and also things like cooking extra potatoes one day, & having something with a mashed potato topping the next day, then you will save too much wasted food & also have your own "ready meals" for busy days.
There are quite a few threads about menu planning on here.... somewhere!0 -
Take baby steps.
So try a new thing everyweek. So start meal planning this week.
Next week choose something else like buying and using stardrops to clean with.
And the week after something else.
Once you start building these little things in to your life then they will become habit.
It does take a while to hone the skills. So a day at a time and you will get there.

I agree with calley, Take baby steps, its the only way, one small change at a time.
I have only been trying to change my ways of doing things for a few months now, and its just starting to come together. I started by writing down everything a spent. I was  on how much i spent on rubbish, things i didn;t really need, after that i set myself a shopping budget, a household budget, and a eveyday budget, i kept these separtate and every week i was suprised that i had money left which went into a saving account.
As for shopping a wrote every thing down that was in my cupboard/freezer, and started to make my meals from what i had in and make meal plans.
You will get some great ideas from this site, i know i couldn;t have done it, if it wasn;t for this site.
It will take time, as calley said "take baby steps" it will all come together.
Good Luck
DiHoping that when I start looking after the pennies, and the pounds will take care of them selves :j0 -
