Interview with personal adviser?

Hi everyone i need your advice please!

Just a rant first !!!
I've had a letter today dating the 26th march I didnt get it until 5 past 5 tonight as it was sent to wrong address. My interview is for 9:50 tomorrow I have a doctors appointment at 10 past 9 im fuming why its took so long! i signed on yesterday they didnt mention it.

I understand you need to be available but a bit of notice would be nice.

And secondly it says i need to prove ive been looking for work. Now ive been looking for work but ive not recieved letters for interviews etc so will this affect my JSA? I'm worried now.

Could i take my looking for work booklet as a bit of proof?

Also found out last week im pregnant its very early days only around 4 weeks but should i tell them or is it too soon?

Thanks !!

  • whos fault was it that it went to the wrong address, have you moved or did the postman wrongly deliver it?
yes you can take your booklet, and also details of jobs you have applied for and any responses you have had(letters or email copies)
as for the pregnancy if its not affecting your avaliability for work then at this stage i would suggest its your business for now.

The postman wrongly delivered it and I havent moved lived here for 19 years:). But I dont see why its taken so long to be posted and I have a doctors appointment tomorrow I booked a week ago so I need to go there. I've heard absolutely nothing in the 4 months I have been signing on. Thanks for your reply I will take my booklet with me and tell them regarding this :)

Just ring the Jobcentre first thing and say you cannot make the appointment as you have a docs appointment. Then ask the GP for a form to say you have attended the doctors at X time on Y day, it doesn't say what the nature of your visit was and it does not cost anything. My Jobcentre only seem to get stroppy with those people who no-show and don't let them know beforehand, they are always lovely with me as I am always polite to them. They even changed my six week appointment because I cannot get up early in a morning due to my medication.

Just ring the jobcentre and say you have a doctors appointment and that you cant come.

1- when phoning to rearrange make sure you get the full name of the person you speak to (very important)

2- for proof of looking for work your jobsearch diary/booklet will suffice so long as it has a few entries proving you have been looking for work.
  • Spot on Fire Fox - Simply ring up between 09:00 and 09:15 and explain the situation. They will then make a new, more convenient appointment for you.

As for being pregnant, it won't matter a jot if you tell them or not (although personally I would keep it to myself this early in the day). All they will tell you is that you continue to claim JSA and apply for jobs until 11 weeks to due date (if I remember correctly), at which point you will change to IS.

Tell them about your pregnancy, assuming you receive income based Jobseeker's Allowance. Because you might qualify for Healthy Start vouchers, worth a few pounds each week, which will help towards milk, fresh fruit & vegetables.
