It sounds ok to me and at first it will be trial and error, I am trying to design a small garden behind a retaining wall and I get ideas on the net.

What I did with my main garden which isn't very big, when the plants are in full bloom take pictures, so you know what they looked like and if you need to move them next year you will know where they are as perennials die down in winter.

google raised beds or retaining walls and go to images and you'll get more ideas. Enjoy:)
  • Thanks everyone for the replies, have got some bellis daisy and forget me nots to add to the white/blue thingy going on. Think I'll just have to learn what works and what doesn't!

I just bought some bellis too, they are good, I had some last year, they seem to last for a good while. Mind you I live in the North East and my plants seem to start blooming later than everywhere else.
  • I have masses of primula in the front and have about 30 plants hopefully to sell at car boots! They seem to multiply no problem even in the dry earth bed.

My tip is definitely go for some plants like primula that you can split and then get some uniformity to the plan - for free!
