Faulty coffee machine

I purchased a coffee machine after xmas from argos. It was half price.
Now it has gone wrong I need to return it to argos.I purchased the extra insurance but shouldnt need it as its only 4 mths old it doesnt come into force yet anywa.
My question is: Can I demand it to be replaced even though I didnt pay full amount or will they ask me to pay extra.
The woman I just spoke to wasnt very clear.I dont see why I should pay extra just cos I got a bargain. I only bought it cos it was on offer as they are normally 119.00.
Any help/advice needed before the weekend whn I return it.

Hi, I work in Argos, so kind of know their procedures...
Strictly speaking Argos has a policy of repairing items over 30 days old. However, most coffee machines don't have repair facilities therefore you will get the replacement(if its in stock).
If their is a repair facility you could use your insurance to get a replacement or gift voucher refund.

So long as there is not a repair facility for the item:
I should think that if the same item is in stock, you'll get a straight replacement (the new receipt will be amended to show the price you originally paid).
If it's out of stock, you should be able to claim a refund on the price paid plus the insurance cost.
Although it all depends on the state of the item which we can't see! If it looks like accidental damage, you'll have to claim on your insurance.0 -
Its not damaged,I went to make a coffee it went bang and then water was everywhere. I was going to try and reserve the item before I went to take it back.
I dont think they will try and repair it but will have to see.
I dont really want a refund as then will have to find the rest of the cash to buy a new one.
Thanks for all your help.Cant get back til weekend, let you know how I get on.0 -
I took a nine month old coffee machine back to Argos after it stopped making the coffee under pressure (it was an intermittent fault).
The manager checked to see whether there was a repair facility for it but there wasn't and we got a brand new machine.
Fingers crossed that it's the same for you.0
