searches - how long do they take?

My solicitor told me today that he received the info from ea and will start with the searches today as well as contact the vendor's solicitor. How long does this usually take?
There's no chain either side and both sides have instructed the exchange and closing date to be as 'as soon as possible'

thanks :)

Searches very much depend on the speed of your local search agent and local authority. Each local authority operate differently, which reflects in the timescale.

The HIP will have searches in it - how old are they?

sorry, i should have probably said but didn't occur to me - i'm on the isle of man and we don't have HIP so the searches are done by the buyer's advocate before exchange.

i guess it will take however long it takes.. i was just wondering whether it's several weeks or several days?
  • Manx Law different from English Law or Scots Law so doubtful if many here will be able to help you! Ask your solicitor how long it takes.

As a retired conveyancing solicitor I believe the information given in the post to be useful assuming any properties concerned are in England/Wales but I accept no liability for it.
