Tesco Direct, wrong description of bike.

I have just purchased a bike for my son's birthday. I purchased it from Tesco Direct (online). The picture of the bike clearly has disc brakes and in the list of features it states " dual suspension with disc brakes". However, in the description it says front and rear v-brakes (so they have covered both angles).

I bought this bike because of the disc brakes and when I got it home, it only had the v-brakes.

I have spoken to CS and they say that this a mistake in the list of features and the picture, which they will get corrected. He also said that I could get a full refund, which is not what I want. Can I push to get the bike as described for the price I paid (£80) or do I have to get a refund or take the bike as is?

Any sugestions or advice welcome.

Thanks

I believe you are entitled to a refund, replacement or repair but which of those you get is the merchant's decision. They've offered you a full refund, you're not entitled to anything else.

As both features were actually listed, a refund is all you can get. Bit of a hassle but by the sounds of it, it was a bargain that turned out too good to be true.

They made a mistake and have offered to refund your money on return of the mis-described item, this is as far as you will get with them I suspect. Take the money and try and find the spec you want elsewhere.

Thanks guys, that is what I expected, to be honest the bike is good value as it is so I think I will keep it.

    Thanks again

As a bit of trade advice to sweeten the deal, Disc brakes are useless on anything less than a mountainbike used for xtrails etc. They cost more to service and replace and the extra stopping power is never required on kids bikes.

I ordered an oven from Tesco direct, the one delivered wasn't quite the same as the one in the picture ( 3 knobs instead of 5 - & less functions) I emailed them, they pondered it for a while then offered to take it back for a full refund, or give me a 10% discount. As the oven was by then fitted in I happily accepted the 10% refund. Their catalogue is peppered with mistakes but I've always found them fair & helpful at Direct ( unlike Dover store CS :D )
