National v Local rates for Gas/Electric

This one has me baffled
half an hour ago a young(ish) man visited us from behind his clip board and said that our gas/electric has probably been charged at THE national rate?? and if we wanted we could ACTUALLY reduce our bills by ABOUT 20%...Yeah...Yeah...Gimme some of that...How? says I.
Well says he If you agree...We will send you a form to fill in and return on Friday...We are NOT affiliated with any supplier companys...Blah blah...You will then be charged at THE LOCAL RATE...Better in your pocket than in the suppliers Eh? Oh yes I readily agree. Urrmm,Can I see your ID again please...Yup His name was...Ooppps too late could'nt quite get it and there was no way I could see the name of his company. Looked a bit like the NATWEST Logo...Naaahhhh surely not:rolleyes:
Anyone know of or heard of this one before. I'm waiting for the form on Friday just to let you know what this is all about, it will be my highlight of the day:D

Are you sure this person wasn't just some random person off the street with a clipboard and homemade ID tag trying to collect peoples info for some sort of identity fraud? I mean, local vs. national rate? :shocked: - it sounds like they've got confused between an energy supply and phone line. :rotfl:0

Sounds very dodgy! There is differing rates accross the nation but not a standard national rate for elec.
Hope this thread gets updated with an outcome. I just hope you didn't give away any confidential details such as direct debit info etc.0 -
if anything comes back to you saying you agreed a contract there are ways to get out of it.0
